Arsenic is a hazardous substance that is present in many different industries and must be monitored under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH).
Arsenic can be found in;
- The electronics industry
- Pesticides and herbicides
- Chemical and pharmaceutical applications
- Wood treatment or glass production
- Metal foundry and smelting work
As arsenic is a hazardous substance employers have a responsibility to provide their employees with appropriate protective equipment such as goggles, masks and gloves that can help to prevent exposure to hazardous substances.
