Botox Claims

Botox is the number one most popular non-surgical treatment in the UK. Renowned for turning the clock back, it is not just for those wanting to take years off their face, but can also correct excess sweating and migraines.

Though it is not a surgical treatment Botox is sadly not a risk-free, there are still complications that can occur, in some cases through the fault of a practitioner. If this applies to you, our medical negligence solicitors can help you to make a Botox claim.

What is Botox?

Botox relaxes the muscles of the face by reducing the intensity of muscle action, harsh lines and deep wrinkles will eventually soften to give a rejuvenated and more youthful appearance.

The procedures popularity is owed partly to the lack of recovery time, with people able to pop into a clinic during their lunch hour and the procedure go unnoticed.

The substance injected into the muscles, a toxin produced by the bacteria, is called Clostridium Botulinum.

The substance is not permanent and so will eventually break down in the body. Treatments are at first needed every 3-4 months, increasing as the muscles are re-educated and begin to relax more frequently on their own.

For the majority of patients, Botox is done without complication, but being seen by an unqualified doctor who is too inexperienced to spot the signs of complications can have serious consequences.

Common complications with Botox procedures

Only fully-qualified doctors or practitioners should administer Botox or dermal fillers and the most reputable clinics will want to see new clients for a brief follow-up appointment after they have had it done.

Some of the complications that can occur with Botox include:

  • Allergic reactions
  • Face paralysis
  • Loss of speech
  • Abnormal swelling
  • Disfigurement
  • Infections
