Respiratory Claims

Respiratory diseases can come in many different forms, from Asthma to Asbestosis to Silicosis. This is caused by irritants, like dust and fumes, entering the lungs, causing irrevocable damage and making pre-existing conditions worse.

The biggest dangers are from coal, spores and dust caused by welding, smelting and plastics manufacturing.

What is Respiratory Disease?

The symptoms for most respiratory diseases start with an irritation to the mouth and throat before the lungs. It begins with a persistent cough, fever or cold and flu symptoms, such as runny noses and breathing difficulties.

Some of the Most Common Respiratory Diseases Include:

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), which arises from inhaling a variety of dangerous particles or gases over a long period of time.
  • Emphysema leaves the sufferer short of breath, fatigued and afflicted by a cough. It is incurable and can even worsen over time.
  • Farmer’s Lung occurs when inhaling dust containing spores or mould found on mouldy crops. It gets its name from the fact that farmers are the most affected by it.
  • Occupational Asthma is an unpleasant result of health and safety measures that are not up to standard and can make the industrial workplace harder to work in.
  • Phurnacite is caused from inhaling the fumes and coal dust from smokeless fuel phurnacite and can lead to serious lung conditions and even lung cancer.
  • Silicosis comes from inhaling silica dust that emerges after different types of stone are cut and refined for use in manufacturing, construction or fuel production.
  • Solvent Exposure occurs when solvents release fumes that linger in the air and are inhaled or if they are applied to the skin or even swallowed by accident.

If you have been to your doctor or any medical professional, who has diagnosed you with any of these diseases and you believe you can link it to your work, then we can help.
